FAQs

The Venmo Teen Account is a Venmo account for 13 to 17-year-olds that is connected to the Venmo account of a parent or guardian. This allows teens to learn about money management with parental oversight built right in. With this account, teens can send and receive money, as well as spend with Venmo online and in-store. Parents can send money to the Venmo Teen Account, and the teen can access it with their Teen Venmo Debit card. Parents can monitor the balance, all transactions, and manage privacy settings right from their app.

Parents and legal guardians can apply for a Venmo Teen Account on behalf of their teen, and can add money directly to the account once it's been opened. The Teen Debit Card is linked to the Teen Account, and allows them to spend the balance anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

Parents and legal guardians can also grant their teen access to the Venmo app. Teens can use Venmo to monitor their spending, view the account balance, and pay and request money from friends on Venmo—all with a direct line of sight from parents.

Card may be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

There is no application fee, no monthly fee, and no minimum balance for the Venmo Teen Debit Card. However other fees may apply for use of the card.

Parents and legal guardians can lock/unlock the Teen Debit Card, monitor the Teen Account balance from their Venmo account, and receive notifications on account activity. All teen transactions default to private, and only guardians can update privacy settings in the app.

Go to the Me tab in the app and use the drop-down menu beneath your name at the top of the screen to create a Venmo Teen Account.

The Venmo Teen Account is designed for teens between the ages of 13 and 17. Teens or parents can sign up for a teen account. If a teen initiates sign-up, a parent or legal guardian (who must be 18 years or older and have a Venmo account) must review and approve the account.

There are no monthly fees for the Venmo Teen Account. Certain actions, like ATM withdrawals at non-MoneyPass® ATMs, may have fees. It's always a good idea to check the official cardholder agreement for a complete list of terms.

Parents have the ability to view all transaction activity for the Venmo Teen Account, including payments sent and received, as well as all debit card purchases. This activity is visible directly within the parent's Venmo app, providing clear oversight.

Venmo Teen Accounts have specific daily and weekly limits for spending and transfers. While parents cannot set custom dollar limits, they have full control over the account balance by deciding how much money to send to the teen. Parents can also lock the card at any time through the app.
